1 Samuel 2:1-11 - Restored From Injustice

September 17, 2023 Preacher: Jason Lock Series: Restoration Out of Corruption

Passage: 1 Samuel 2:1–11

  1. Justice is reason for joy (2:1-3)

  2. What is justice?

“Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness abide in the fruitful field. And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.” - Isaiah 32:16-18

  3. Justice restores the weak (2:3-8)

  4. Justice destroys the proud (2:3-8)

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires.” - Nicolle Machiavelli

“The feeling of having no power over people and events is generally unbearable to us - when we feel helpless we feel miserable. No one wants less power, everyone wants more. In the world today, however, it is dangerous to seem too power hungry, to be overt with your power moves. We have to seem fair and decent. So we need to be subtle - congenial, yet cunning, democratic yet devious.” - Robert Greene

  5. Humble yourself (2:9-11)

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich.” - 2 Corinthians 8:9,
